A tragic incident unfolded at the historic Jambeswar Temple in Puri today when a senior servitor, identified as Jhadu Panda, accidentally fell into a well while performing his daily ritual duties.

According to initial reports, Jhadu Panda was drawing water for temple rituals as part of his assigned service when he slipped and fell into the temple well. The mishap occurred swiftly, catching fellow servitors off guard.

Puri’s fire services team rushed to the scene and successfully retrieved Panda from the well. However, despite prompt medical attention at the District Headquarters Hospital, doctors pronounced him dead.

The untimely demise has cast a shadow over the temple community, raising concerns about safety protocols during daily religious duties. Local authorities are expected to review current procedures to prevent such tragic repetitions.

Jhadu Panda served as a dedicated servitor of the Jambeswar Temple for years, and his loss is deeply mourned by devotees and temple staff alike.
