Puri: Three coaches of Puri- Howrah express train derailed near Malatipatpur station in Puri district on Saturday evening.
The mishap took place when the train was on its way to Puri from Howrah. No casualties or injuries were reported as all the three compartments-S-1, S-2, S-3 were empty.
The reason of the accident has not yet been ascertained immediately. Senior officials have reached the spot and launched rescue and relief operation.
Train communication on the rote has been partially disrupted. Railway department expedited the track repair work to restore normalcy.
On being informed, Khurdha Railway division officer Rinkesh Raya rushed to the spot and directed the concerned engineers to speed up relief work.
The coaches derailed while the train changed the track from loop line to main line, the official said.
The train was scheduled to depart from Puri at 8.15 pm, he informed.
