The Punjab Police have dismantled a weapon-smuggling module with ties to Pakistan and arrested one Abhishek Kumar in Amritsar.
The operation led to the recovery of seven pistols, four live cartridges, and cash worth Rs 1.5 lakh, according to Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav.
Acting on a tip-off, the Counter-Intelligence unit unearthed a network allegedly operated by Australia-based Jassa, who collaborated with Pakistan-based smugglers. These operations were facilitated across the Indo-Pakistan border with the help of local accomplices like Jodhbir Singh, alias Jodha, and Abhishek Kumar.
Preliminary investigations indicate connections to hawala transactions, suggesting links to a broader criminal syndicate. An FIR has been lodged, and further investigations are underway to identify additional associates and expose the full extent of the operation.
Separately, as part of an ongoing anti-drug initiative, Moga Police demolished four illegally constructed houses of notorious drug smugglers in Daulewala village.
