The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and Pakistan Super League (PSL) handed a one-year ban to South African cricketer Corbin Bosch.
This follows his withdrawal from the PSL after being drafted as a diamond pick for Peshawar Zalmi, choosing instead to join Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League (IPL) as an injury replacement for pacer Lizaad Williams.
The clash of schedules between the PSL and IPL for the first time put players like Bosch in a difficult spot. While the IPL remains a lucrative platform, Bosch’s decision to prioritize it over his PSL obligations sparked discussions about professionalism and commitment in franchise cricket.
“To the loyal fans of Peshawar Zalmi, I deeply apologize for letting you down. I take full responsibility for my actions and accept the consequences. This has been a hard lesson, but I’m committed to earning back the trust of the fans,” Bosch expressed in his apology statement.
This strict ban by the PCB and PSL aims to deter future incidents of players backing out post-selection, ensuring the integrity of the league remains intact.
