With a focus on last-mile healthcare delivery and community well-being, Vedanta Aluminium conducted a large-scale multi-speciality health camp in the Gobardhanpur Gram Panchayat region of Kalahandi district, Odisha’s tribal heartland.
The initiative, held under ‘Project Aarogya’, aimed to provide timely medical care to underserved communities during the peak monsoon season.
The camp extended healthcare services to over 350 residents across 15 villages, offering consultations in paediatrics, general medicine, gynaecology, and other allied fields. Organised in a region prone to seasonal illnesses and limited medical infrastructure, the camp addressed critical gaps in healthcare access.
Speaking on the initiative, Pranab Kumar Bhattacharyya, CEO of Vedanta Alumina Business, stated, “This health camp reflects our commitment to preventive healthcare in remote areas. Through Project Aarogya, we strive to bring essential medical services directly to the doorstep of tribal and rural communities.”
Project Aarogya has emerged as a key healthcare intervention in the region. In the financial year 2024–25, Vedanta Lanjigarh facilitated over 660 Mobile Health Unit (MHU) visits, reaching more than 20,500 individuals. Additionally, 680+ community awareness sessions were held, educating over 15,000 people on hygiene, wellness, and disease prevention.
