In a significant administrative move, the Government of Odisha has appointed Priyaranjan Prusty, an Odisha Administrative Service (OAS) officer of SAG rank, as the Administrator (Niti) of the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) in Puri.
This transfer comes as part of ongoing efforts to streamline temple management and ensure efficient oversight of rituals and operations at one of India’s most revered pilgrimage sites.
Previously serving as the Chief Development Officer-cum-Executive Officer (CDO-cum-EO) of the Zilla Parishad in Puri, Prusty brings extensive experience in local governance and administration to his new role.
The notification, issued by the General Administration & Public Grievance Department, highlights his immediate transfer to SJTA, where he will focus on Niti (ritual) administration, a critical aspect of the temple’s daily and ceremonial functions.
In another fresh reshuffle, the Panchayati Raj & Drinking Water (PR&DW) Department issued a notification, transferring two OAS officers to Block Development Officer (BDO) positions. Akshay Kumar Parida, formerly Tahasildar of Tigiria in Cuttack, has been posted as BDO of Niali in Cuttack. Chhabirani Sahoo, previously BDO of Gop in Puri, moves to Binjharpur in Jajpur.
