After four days of disruption, Odisha’s private bus services are set to resume operations starting tomorrow, July 12, 2025.
The announcement was made by the All Odisha Private Bus Owners’ Association after a meeting in Puri today. The crippling strike led by the Odisha Drivers’ Mahasangha had halted over 13,000 buses across the state.
The strike stemmed from mounting frustrations among drivers over a new hit-and-run law under Section 106(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, and unfulfilled promises of insurance and social security benefits.
The “Quit Steering Wheel” movement saw drivers demanding better wages and working conditions, with many earning below the state’s average income, a concern echoed by the Mahasangh’s leadership.
