On the directive of Chief Minister Shri Mohan Charan Majhi, Principal Secretary of Urban Development & Housing, and Commerce & Transport Departments, Smt. Usha Padhee visited Keonjhar district today to assess key urban development and transport-related projects.
During her visit, Smt. Padhee conducted an on-ground inspection of Sponge Colony under Ward No. 9, which has been grappling with persistent waterlogging issues for years. Accompanied by senior officials from WATCO and the district administration, she examined the root causes and discussed engineering solutions to mitigate the problem. She also interacted with local residents, assuring them of an expedited resolution.
Additionally, Smt. Padhee visited the Government Bus Stand and Municipal Bus Stand, operated by the Odisha State Transport Corporation (OSTC). She reviewed commuter facilities, identified infrastructure gaps, and engaged with OSTC officials to optimise transport services.
Later, she chaired a comprehensive review meeting with district authorities to evaluate the progress of ongoing urban and transport projects. Emphasising the urgency of addressing drainage concerns ahead of the monsoon, she instructed officials to implement swift measures for waterlogging mitigation.
Smt. Padhee reaffirmed the government’s commitment to enhancing urban infrastructure and transport systems in Keonjhar and beyond, ensuring residents experience improved civic amenities and seamless public transport services.
