President Droupadi Murmu received a rousing welcome on Thursday afternoon during her Odisha visit.
At around 3:30 pm, she landed at the temporary helipad set up at Anukulpur playground near Jashipur in a special Indian Air Force helicopter.
At the helipad, Forest and Environment Minister and Jashipur MLA Ganesh Ram Singh Khuntia, MP Navacharan Majhi, senior police and administrative officials, and several BJP workers greeted the President warmly.
Afterwards, the President proceeded in a secure motorcade through Jashipur’s main market before entering the Similipal Tiger Reserve. Along the route, students from various educational institutions waved the national flag and raised slogans of “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” to welcome her. In several places, tribal communities performed traditional dances such as Changu and Dantha, adding cultural vibrancy to the reception.
Later in the evening, the President reached Gurugudia Forest Bungalow inside Similipal, where she will spend the night. On February 6, she will hold direct interactions with tribal women and youth groups of Similipal. In addition, she will participate in a welfare programme that includes distributing blankets to poor and underprivileged residents.
Following the engagements, the President will return by road to the temporary helipad and depart for Bhubaneswar in an Indian Air Force helicopter.
