The President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu inaugurated the two-day National Conference on ‘Environment–2025’ in New Delhi on March 29, 2025.

In her address, she emphasized the moral responsibility of providing a clean and vibrant environment for future generations.

President Murmu highlighted the importance of integrating environmental objectives into daily life, stressing that environmental protection requires continuous awareness and collective participation. She urged families to consider not only their children’s education and careers but also the quality of air, water, and natural beauty they will inherit.

Drawing from India’s heritage of respecting and nourishing nature, the President called for an environmentally conscious lifestyle that balances modern development with ecological preservation. She praised India’s achievements in meeting its Nationally Determined Contributions ahead of schedule and expressed confidence in the country’s role as a global green leader.

The President also acknowledged the National Green Tribunal’s (NGT) significant contributions to environmental governance and justice. She encouraged institutions and citizens to actively engage in environmental protection and promotion.

The conference, organized by the NGT, aims to address pressing environmental challenges, share best practices, and develop sustainable action plans for the future. President Murmu expressed hope that India would become a developed nation by 2047, attracting global admiration for its clean air, water, and greenery.
