President Droupadi Murmu is set to embark on a two-day visit to the holy city of Puri, highlighting her deep connection to Odisha’s cultural and spiritual heritage.
Arriving on February 3, the President will spend the night in Puri, immersing herself in the serene atmosphere of this ancient pilgrimage site.
The itinerary for February 4 begins early at 7:00 AM with a solemn Pind Daan ceremony at Swetaganga, a sacred ritual honouring ancestors. Following this, at 7:40 AM, she will proceed to the iconic Shrimandir (Jagannath Temple) for darshan of Mahaprabhu Jagannath. The darshan is scheduled to conclude by 8:20 AM, after which she will return.
At the Sinhadwar (Lion Gate) of the temple, President Murmu will be warmly welcomed by the Gajapati Maharaja and the Chhatisa Niyog Nayak. Upon completing her darshan and returning, the Shrimandir administration will present her with special gifts as a token of respect.
To ensure security and smooth proceedings during the President’s visit, public darshan at the temple will be temporarily suspended. Passes will be issued to Palia Sevaks (temple servitors) to allow them access.
This information was shared by SJTA Chief Administrator Arabinda Kumar Padhee following a meeting of the Chhatisa Niyog.
