Police in Bhadrak district successfully intercepted a cattle smuggling operation near Bideipur Chhak on the Dhamra–Basudevpur road. Officers seized a truck loaded with nearly 60 cows and detained the driver.
Acting on a tip-off about illegal cattle transport from Dhamra port area towards Balasore, Basudevpur police joined forces with Nayakanidihi police to conduct a joint raid. The operation led to the rescue of the animals and the arrest of the truck driver, who now faces legal action.
Authorities confirmed that the rescued cows have been shifted to a safe shelter where they are receiving proper care. Police officials described the raid as part of Odisha’s intensified crackdown on cattle smuggling and animal cruelty.
Local residents welcomed the action, praising the police for their vigilance. They urged authorities to continue such operations to curb illegal trade and protect livestock.
