Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping are set to meet on August 31 in Tianjin, China, on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit.
This will be the first meeting between the two leaders in nearly a year, following their October 2024 talks that led to a breakthrough in negotiations over the military standoff along the Line of Actual Control (LAC).
During his China visit, PM Modi is also expected to hold discussions with Russian President Vladimir Putin and several Central Asian leaders.
Last month, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar visited China for the first time since 2020, where he met Xi Jinping and conveyed greetings from President Droupadi Murmu and PM Modi. His discussions focused on the progress of bilateral ties and the importance of leadership guidance in managing relations between the two nations.
