Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke directly with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Sunday, urging an early end to the ongoing hostilities.
He conveyed India’s serious concerns over recent developments and stressed that civilian safety must remain the top priority.
India issued its first official reaction swiftly. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) released a firm statement, urging all sides to exercise restraint, avoid escalation, and prioritise dialogue and diplomacy. The ministry reiterated that every nation must respect sovereignty and territorial integrity.
With nearly 10 million Indian nationals residing in West Asia, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar engaged in a series of high-level talks. He spoke with Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi and Israeli counterpart Gideon Sa’ar, expressing India’s deep concerns. Jaishankar also reached out to ministers from the UAE, Qatar, Kuwait, and Bahrain, seeking cooperation to ensure the safety of the Indian community.
Indian missions across the region remain in close contact with nationals, issuing advisories urging vigilance and adherence to local security instructions. India continues to carefully balance its relations while prioritising the protection of its citizens.
