Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke with Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Saturday to assess the ongoing rescue operations in the Chamoli district following an avalanche in Mana.
CM Dhami, who is personally overseeing the rescue efforts, reported that 33 Border Roads Organisation (BRO) workers have already been saved, while efforts continue to rescue the remaining trapped individuals. The central government has assured all possible assistance in managing the emergency.
CM Dhami has traveled to Joshimath to evaluate the situation. The Uttarakhand State Disaster Management Secretary, Vinod Kumar Suman, mentioned that the rescue operations are progressing swiftly despite inclement weather. Three severely injured individuals are receiving treatment at the Army Hospital Jyotirmath.
The Uttarakhand government has released helpline numbers for those requiring assistance or information about the avalanche.
