Prime Minister Narendra Modi was conferred with Cyprus’s prestigious Grand Cross of the Order of Makarios III in a special ceremony today.
The honour was presented by Cyprus President Nikos Christodoulides, recognising Modi’s dedication to fostering strong India-Cyprus relations and advancing global peace.
Accepting the award on behalf of 1.4 billion Indians, PM Modi expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Cyprus government and its citizens. He dedicated the recognition to the longstanding friendship between India and Cyprus, built upon shared values and mutual trust.
Modi underscored that the award symbolises India’s commitment to the philosophy of “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam”, meaning “The World is One Family.” He reiterated India’s vision for peace, security, and prosperity on the global stage, emphasising strengthened ties with Cyprus in trade, cultural exchanges, and diplomatic cooperation.
This recognition further solidifies India’s international influence, affirming its role in global stability and multilateral engagement. Modi’s honour reflects India’s growing stature as a key player in fostering peaceful international relations.
