Prime Minister Narendra Modi shared a car ride with Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim in Kuala Lumpur on Saturday, showcasing their personal rapport during Modi’s two‑day visit to Malaysia.

PM Modi posted glimpses of the ride on X, writing, “Celebrating the India–Malaysia people‑to‑people connect! PM Anwar Ibrahim and I are heading to the community programme in Kuala Lumpur.” Earlier, Anwar Ibrahim personally received Modi at the airport, a gesture underlining the warmth between the two leaders.

The Ministry of External Affairs described Malaysia as a key partner in India’s Act East Policy, Vision MAHASAGAR, and Indo‑Pacific vision. Modi’s visit, his third since 2015, aims to strengthen the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership established in 2024. He will hold bilateral talks with Anwar Ibrahim and attend engagements across political, economic, cultural, and community domains.

A highlight of the trip is the diaspora event “Selamat Datang Modiji” at the MINES International Exhibition & Convention Centre. Around 800 dancers will attempt a Malaysia Book of Records entry by performing the largest choreographed Indian classical and folk dance showcase.

This car‑ride gesture adds to Modi’s tradition of breaking protocol to emphasise personal ties with global leaders. Similar moments occurred with Russian President Vladimir Putin, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, and UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan during their visits to India.
