Prime Minister Narendra Modi held important discussions today with His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia, focusing on the rapidly evolving situation in West Asia.
The conversation came against the backdrop of recent Iranian retaliatory strikes across the region, including drone attacks that targeted Saudi Arabia’s critical energy infrastructure, notably the Ras Tanura refinery—one of the world’s largest oil facilities. These incidents, part of a broader escalation following U.S. and Israeli actions against Iran, have raised serious concerns about sovereignty violations and threats to regional stability.
Prime Minister Modi strongly condemned the recent attacks on Saudi Arabia, describing them as a clear violation of the Kingdom’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. Both leaders emphasised the urgent need for the earliest possible restoration of peace and stability in the region, agreeing that de-escalation is essential to prevent further disruption.
The Prime Minister also expressed gratitude to Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman for ensuring the well-being and safety of the large Indian community in Saudi Arabia during these challenging times. India has a significant expatriate population in the Kingdom, and their security remains a priority amid the ongoing tensions.
Prime Minister Modi shared details of the call on X (formerly Twitter), reiterating India’s position: “Discussed the evolving situation in West Asia with Crown Prince and PM of Saudi Arabia, HRH Prince Mohammed bin Salman. India condemns the recent attacks on Saudi Arabia in violation of its sovereignty and territorial integrity. We agreed that earliest restoration of regional peace and stability is of utmost importance. I thanked him for looking after the well-being of the Indian community in these difficult times.”
