Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the 18th Rozgar Mela via video conferencing, congratulating more than 61,000 young people who received appointment letters for government services.
He described the letters as invitations to nation-building and pledges to accelerate the creation of a developed India.
The Prime Minister noted that many of the recruits will strengthen national security, empower education and healthcare, reinforce financial services and energy security, and contribute to public sector growth. He emphasised that connecting youth with skills and providing employment opportunities has been a priority of the government.
Highlighting the significance of the day, Modi recalled Parakram Diwas on January 23, National Voters’ Day on January 25, and Republic Day on January 26. He also pointed out that on this day, the Constitution adopted Jana Gana Mana as the National Anthem and Vande Mataram as the National Song.
Modi underlined that India is among the youngest nations in the world, and the government is creating opportunities both domestically and globally. He mentioned trade and mobility agreements with several countries, which are opening new avenues for Indian youth. He also stressed that India has doubled its GDP in a decade, attracting more than two-and-a-half times higher FDI compared to the period before 2014.
The Prime Minister highlighted women’s participation, noting that over 8,000 daughters received appointment letters at the event. He said women’s workforce participation has nearly doubled in the past 11 years, with schemes like Mudra and Startup India boosting female entrepreneurship.
Modi concluded by emphasising reforms in GST and labour codes, which have benefitted youth entrepreneurs, MSMEs, and workers by expanding social security.
Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh attended the event along with other dignitaries.
