A 45-year-old patient sustained critical injuries after falling from the second floor of the medicine ward at Bhima Bhoi Medical College and Hospital (MCH) in Bolangir on July 14.
The patient, identified as Purnachandra Sahu of Kharselpada, was admitted to the hospital just two days prior.
Eyewitnesses claim that two iron glass panels near the stairwell broke, causing the patient to plunge down.
Following the incident, Sahu was swiftly rescued and admitted to the hospital’s surgery ward in critical condition. As of now, the exact reason behind the fall remains unclear.
Hospital Superintendent Manasi Panda has confirmed that a preliminary investigation has been initiated, and the matter is being taken seriously.
Meanwhile, the incident has triggered outrage among family members and attendants, who expressed dissatisfaction over hospital safety measures and demanded accountability from relevant authorities.
