Pakistani actor and reality TV personality Humaira Asghar Ali was found dead in her Karachi apartment on Tuesday, triggering shock and sadness across the entertainment industry.
The 32-year-old, known for her appearance on ARY’s reality show Tamasha Ghar and the 2015 film Jalaibee, was discovered in a decomposed state after police broke into her flat in the city’s Defence Housing Authority (DHA) area.
The discovery came after a local court directed authorities to vacate the rented apartment following complaints from the landlord over non-payment of rent since 2024. Around 3:15 PM, when the police arrived and received no response at the door, they forcibly entered the premises, only to find the body inside. Officials noted that the doors, iron gate, and balcony were all locked from the inside, indicating no immediate signs of forced entry or foul play.
Area police chief Syed Asad Raza confirmed that the body appeared to be several days old. Dr. Summaiya Syed, a police surgeon, stated that the body was in an advanced stage of decomposition and estimated the death to have occurred at least two weeks earlier. The remains have been sent to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for a post-mortem examination to ascertain the exact cause of death.
Humaira reportedly lived alone in the apartment, and efforts are underway to contact her family members. The tragic incident has raised concerns about the isolation and lack of support many individuals in the entertainment industry may face, especially during times of financial and personal difficulty.
