New Delhi: All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi questioned assurance given by Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat on the Gyanvapi row saying he holds no constitutional posts.
‘It is an old Sangh tactic to ‘disown things when they are unpopular while owning them later on’, Owaisi said. In a long Twitter post on Friday that contained 17 points, Owaisi said even during the Babri agitation, a part of the Sangh used to say they would follow the Supreme Court’s order. Instead of Mohan Bhagwat and JP Nadda, who hold no constitutional posts, PM Modi should give a clear message that he stands by 1991 law, Owaisi said.
1. Bhagwat’s incendiary speech on #Gyanvapi mustn’t be ignored. He said an agitation for #Babri was necessary “for historical reasons”. In other words, RSS didn’t respect SC & participated in demolition of masjid. Does this mean that they’ll do something similar on Gyanvapi also? pic.twitter.com/9lk4lAUI7A

Owaisi said forcible conversion was a lie. The problem is that Bhagwat and his ilk cannot accept that people born in modern India are Indian citizens. It is irrelevant where their forefathers came from.
In another tweet, he criticised Bhagwat and BJP chief JP Nadda for statements on Gyanvapi mosque. “Who is Bhagwat or Nadda to give an‘assurance’ on these issues? Letb @PMOIndia give a clear message that he stands by 1991 law. If yes, all these Hindutva upstarts will have to stop,” he tweeted.
On Thursday, Bhagwat said that the Gyanvapi mosque had a history that one could not change adding that there was no need to look for Shivlings in mosques daily and needlessly escalate a controversy.
