The Odisha Sub-Ordinate Staff Selection Commission (OSSSC) has postponed the preliminary examinations for the positions of Sevak/Sevika and Tribal Language Teacher (TLT) due to a statewide bandh called by the Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee on July 17.
The exams, originally scheduled for July 17, have been deferred until further notice. According to the OSSSC’s official notification, all other examinations listed under Notice No. 1333/OSSSC dated June 17, 2025, remain unchanged. Aspirants are urged to check the Commission’s website regularly for updates.
The bandh was triggered by outrage surrounding the tragic death of Soumyashree Bisi, a 20-year-old student of Fakir Mohan Autonomous College in Balasore. She allegedly attempted self-immolation following reported harassment and later succumbed to her injuries at AIIMS Bhubaneswar. The incident has sparked widespread political and public reactions, leading to protests and disruptions across Odisha.
With safety and logistical concerns mounting, the OSSSC’s decision aims to ensure the well-being of candidates and maintain examination integrity.
