A workshop aimed at safeguarding women from cybercrimes was organised today at the conference hall of the Women and Child Development Institution in Laxmisagar, Bhubaneswar. The event was conducted under the auspices of the Odisha State Commission for Women (OSCW).
The workshop was chaired by Shobhana Mohanty, Chairperson of the Odisha State Commission for Women, and was inaugurated with a ceremonial lighting of the lamp by the dignitaries.
The chief guest for the event was Swyamprabha Mohanty, IAS, Director of the Department of Women and Child Development, Government of Odisha. Other members of the Commission, including Urmila Mohapatra, Pratibha Satpathy, and Dr Kalpana Mallick, were also in attendance.
The key resource person for the workshop was Akshay Kumar Nayak, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Police Commissionerate. He delivered a comprehensive session on cybercrimes, focusing on preventive measures and safety mechanisms for women.
During the technical session, Nayak provided an in-depth presentation that detailed various forms of cybercrimes and offered practical guidance on how women can protect themselves in the digital space.
The workshop saw participation from a diverse group of stakeholders, including police officials, legal experts, policymakers, civil society representatives, NGO members, social workers, law students, and officials from the Odisha State Commission for Women.
