In a major leap forward for road safety and emergency medical response, the State Transport Authority (STA) of Odisha is all set to launch an innovative WhatsApp chatbot named ‘Ama Rasta’.
Designed to bridge the critical gap between accident occurrence and rescue operations, the initiative aims to slash emergency response times across the state.
How It Works: Instant Reporting at Your Fingertips
Citizens can now play a proactive role in saving lives by reporting road mishaps instantly. Under this initiative, anyone can provide real-time information about a road accident simply by messaging the dedicated WhatsApp number: 72899 11033.
The chatbot utilises automated technology to streamline distress communication. As soon as an incident is logged into the system through the chat, automated instant notifications are simultaneously dispatched to key stakeholders in the vicinity. This includes:
-
The nearest Regional Transport Officer (RTO)
-
Local Police authorities
-
Designated Master Trainers
-
Trained Rescuers and Junior Rescuers
A Collaborative Approach to Save Lives
By routing vital information directly to the concerned authorities and ground-level responders simultaneously, ‘Ama Rasta’ eliminates bureaucratic delays. First responders can rush to the accident spot with immediate medical and rescue assistance, significantly improving the “golden hour” survival rate for accident victims.
The Commerce and Transport Department of Odisha has urged citizens to save the number and use it responsibly to report mishaps, reinforcing the state’s ongoing commitment to making highways and local roads safer for everyone.
