The first meeting of the Kotia Committee, formed by the Odisha government to address the long-standing territorial dispute between Odisha and Andhra Pradesh, is set to be held on June 3.
Odisha’s Revenue Minister Suresh Pujari announced the decision, highlighting various administrative measures aimed at strengthening Odisha’s claim over Kotia.
One of the key decisions includes the appointment of a dedicated officer for Kotia to ensure focused governance and development efforts. Additionally, both short-term and long-term plans will be implemented to boost infrastructure, public services, and welfare schemes in the region.
The Odisha government has also submitted a petition for reconsideration in the Supreme Court, seeking a favourable judgment regarding Kotia’s territorial status. The Revenue Minister reaffirmed that the people of Kotia belong to Odisha and will remain within the state. The upcoming committee meeting is expected to outline key policies and strategies to safeguard Odisha’s interests in Kotia.
The decisions taken during this meeting could significantly impact Kotia’s future and the state’s approach to territorial governance.
