Odisha has taken a pioneering step in citizen‑centric mobility with the launch of the Odisha Yatri Safety App, India’s first state‑owned safety platform.
Hon’ble Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi unveiled the app on Local Self‑Government Day, joined by Housing & Urban Development Minister Dr Krushna Chandra Mahapatra and Odisha Yatri Brand Ambassador Archita Sahu.
The app introduces breakthrough features such as Shake & Alert, allowing users to discreetly trigger an emergency alert by shaking their phone, and one‑click SOS to instantly connect with emergency services and trusted contacts. Passengers can also share live location, record audio during emergencies, and mark rides as safe once secure.
Designed for both passengers and drivers, the initiative aims to strengthen public confidence in shared mobility, particularly for women, senior citizens and vulnerable groups.
CM Majhi emphasised that safe, accessible mobility is central to building citizen‑friendly cities, while Minister Mahapatra highlighted the government’s commitment to safety, dignity and convenience. Archita Sahu urged citizens, especially women and youth, to adopt the app and familiarise themselves with its tools.
Odisha Yatri already offers integrated services like ride booking, Ama Bus, FASTicket and boating. With the new safety module, it positions itself as a comprehensive urban mobility platform combining convenience, affordability and security.
Citizens can download or update the Odisha Yatri App to access the new safety features.
