A cyclonic circulation formed over the southeast Bay of Bengal is set to raise temperatures across Odisha, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasting dry weather for the next week.
Officials confirmed that maximum and minimum temperatures will increase by 2–3°C over the next three days. The circulation has already triggered scattered rainfall in parts of the state. Baramula in Nayagarh recorded 5.4 mm, Marshaghai in Kendrapara 5 mm, Derabish 2.5 mm, Digapahandi in Ganjam 5 mm, and Jenapur in Jajpur 2.2 mm.
Rourkela registered the lowest temperature at 12.2°C, followed by G Udayagiri at 9.7°C. Parlakhemundi recorded the highest at 35°C. Meteorologists noted that with no significant weather system over Odisha, conditions will remain dry for at least seven days.
The cyclonic circulation over the Bay of Bengal highlights seasonal variations that often influence Odisha’s climate. Rising temperatures are expected to affect daily life, particularly in western and southern districts. Authorities urged residents to stay hydrated and take precautions against heat stress.
The IMD continues to monitor the circulation and its impact on regional weather patterns. While rainfall activity remains limited, the dry spell could intensify in the coming days.
