Odisha Vigilance officials have uncovered significant wealth allegedly acquired through illicit means by Sahadev Kisan, Superintending Engineer (SE) of the Public Health (PH) Division in Rayagada.
Kisan was intercepted while carrying Rs 1.5 lakh in suspected ill-gotten cash, prompting simultaneous house searches at his properties in Rayagada and Sambalpur. The searches revealed two high-value plots, gold ornaments weighing 100 grams, household assets worth Rs 10 lakh, and bank deposits, insurance investments, and mutual funds amounting to nearly Rs 50 lakh.
Having joined as an Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE) in the Housing & Urban Development (H&UD) Department in 2016, Kisan rose through the ranks to become a Superintending Engineer in March 2025. Vigilance is currently investigating whether his amassed wealth is disproportionate to his known sources of income.
Further developments in the probe are awaited.
