Odisha Vigilance arrested Satya Anjan Dey, a former accountant of Baniadiha Society Ltd, Langaleswar, Balasore Bhadrak Central Co-Operative Bank (BBCC), Baliapal.
Dey, currently under suspension, is accused of misappropriating Rs 22,18,600 of government funds over a span of nine years, from 2014 to 2023.
The funds, deposited by account holders of the society, were allegedly siphoned off by forging signatures and producing fraudulent withdrawal slips. Following his arrest, Dey was forwarded to the court on March 29, 2025.
A case has been registered under Balasore Vigilance PS Case No. 03/29.3.2025, invoking sections 13(2) read with 13(1)(a)(c) of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018, along with IPC sections 406, 409, 465, 468, 471, and 477. The investigation is ongoing, with authorities determined to uncover the full extent of the fraud.
