The Odisha Vigilance on Friday carried out simultaneous searches at three locations in Odisha’s Kalahandi district in connection with allegations of disproportionate assets (DA) against Forester Bhagbat Bhusan Behera, currently posted under the Bhawanipatna Forest Range.
The anti-corruption action was launched following credible information suggesting that the forest official had allegedly accumulated assets disproportionate to his known sources of income. Acting on search warrants issued by the Court of the Special Judge, Vigilance, Bhawanipatna, multiple teams began coordinated raids early in the morning.
Multi-Location Search Operation in Kalahandi
According to official sources, the search operation is being conducted by a team comprising four Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs), seven Inspectors, four Assistant Sub-Inspectors (ASIs), and supporting staff.
Searches are currently underway at three premises linked to the forester:

A triple-storeyed residential building at Hill Town in Bhawanipatna

A house belonging to his brother at Deundi village under the Kalopala area within Junagarh police limits

His office chamber at Bhatangpadar Forest Section under the Bhawanipatna Forest Range in Forest North Division, Kalahandi
Officials are examining documents, financial records, bank details, and both movable and immovable assets as part of the ongoing investigation.
Investigation Underway
The Vigilance department has stated that details regarding any assets detected will be disclosed after the completion of the searches and proper assessment. The investigation remains in progress, and further updates are expected.
