Odisha Vigilance today arrested Trilochan Dhal, former Chief District Veterinary Officer (CDVO) of Nuapada, and Ashok Kumar Dau, Statistical Enumerator at the same office, for alleged embezzlement of over Rs 18 lakh in government funds.
The funds, allocated under the National Adaptation Funds for Climate Change (NAFCC), were reportedly transferred to the personal account of Sri Dau, in violation of financial protocols. The misappropriation was uncovered during a probe by Vigilance authorities, leading to swift arrests.
A case has been registered at Koraput Vigilance Police Station under PS Case No. 29/2025, invoking sections 13(2) read with 13(1)(a) of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018, along with sections 409 and 120-B of the Indian Penal Code. The investigation is ongoing to trace further irregularities and determine the extent of the financial damage.
The arrests have sparked concern over the misuse of climate adaptation funds, which are meant to support vulnerable communities and sustainable development initiatives. Vigilance officials have assured that strict action will be taken against all involved.
