The Odisha Vigilance on Tuesday arrested Jitendra Kumar Jena, Panchayat Executive Officer (PEO) of Bancho Gram Panchayat under Hatadihi Block in Keonjhar district, in connection with a disproportionate assets (DA) case, officials said.
Jena was arrested following searches conducted at multiple locations linked to him and is scheduled to be produced before the Special Judge (Vigilance), Keonjhar, later today.
Details of the Vigilance Case
According to Vigilance officials, searches carried out on properties allegedly linked to the accused revealed assets that were disproportionate to his known sources of income, which he reportedly failed to explain satisfactorily during the inquiry.
The assets allegedly detected include:

One triple-storeyed residential building

One double-storeyed market complex, valued at over ₹1.34 crore

Six plots of land
-
Gold ornaments weighing approximately 100 grams

Bank deposits amounting to ₹34.06 lakh

One four-wheeler
Case Registered
In this connection, Balasore Vigilance Police Station Case No. 20/2025 has been registered against Jena under relevant provisions of law relating to possession of disproportionate assets.
Investigation Ongoing
Officials said the investigation is continuing, and further details will emerge as the probe progresses. Vigilance authorities have reiterated that the case is under examination and that findings will be placed before the court in due course.
