Odisha Vigilance today arrested Sudarsana Khatua, former Secretary of the Bamanbindha Service Co-operative Society under BBCC Bank Ltd., Tihidi, Bhadrak district.
Khatua is accused of embezzling government funds amounting to Rs 13,32,260 through multiple fraudulent practices.
According to the Vigilance Department, Khatua allegedly manipulated official records under various heads. These include unauthorized withdrawal of savings bank deposits belonging to society members, misrepresentation of balances in the Day Book, and inflating Mondi Labour charges beyond the government-prescribed rates.
A case has been registered against him under Balasore Vigilance PS Case No.13/2025. The arrest follows a detailed investigation into financial discrepancies flagged during internal audits.
Authorities have stated that further inquiry is underway to trace additional irregularities and identify any accomplices involved in the misappropriation.
