After a series of accidents involving ‘Ama Bus’ services, the Odisha Transport Department immediately tightened safety checks and enforcement measures.
To begin with, officials placed bus fitness, driver condition, and adherence to road safety norms under strict scrutiny. Moreover, Transport Commissioner Amitabh Thakur formed a special team to oversee the process and ensure accountability.
Next, independent enforcement teams launched inspections at the Master Canteen depot, directly monitoring compliance with safety standards. At the same time, police deployed breath analysers outside the depot and actively tested drivers for alcohol consumption before they took the wheel.
As a result, the department demonstrated its commitment to passenger safety and sent a clear message that lapses will not be tolerated.
