The Odisha government has announced that the state-level Shaheed Diwas-2026 will be observed with full reverence on January 30, 2026, at the Odisha Legislative Assembly premises near the statue of Mahatma Gandhi.

The Information and Public Relations Department is organising a solemn prayer meeting to pay homage to the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, and the martyrs of India’s freedom struggle.

I&PR Director Anuj Kumar Das Pattanaik has written to the Governor’s Personal Secretary, inviting Governor Dr Hari Babu Kambhampati to attend and offer floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi.

The letter includes a detailed minute-to-minute program for approval.

The event schedule includes:

  • 10:48 AM— Arrival of the Governor, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, Speaker Surama Padhy, Deputy Speaker Bhabani Shankar Bhoi, Deputy Chief Ministers, Ministers, MLAs, and other dignitaries.
  • 10:49 AM— Playing of the National Anthem by the Police Band.
  • 10:50 AM— Floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi’s statue.
  • 10:53 AM— Recitation of bhajans from Gandhi’s Ashram.
  • 10:58 AM— Guard of Honour to the martyrs by the Odisha Police.
  • Followed by a two-minute silence in honour of the martyrs.
  • Performance of Ramdhun by the Odisha Police Band.
  • 11:05 AM— Conclusion with the National Anthem.

Through this observance, the Odisha government aims to commemorate the sacrifices of freedom fighters and inspire the younger generation with their legacy. All preparations are in full swing to ensure the event proceeds smoothly.
