In a bid to enhance transparency and efficiency in public works, the Odisha government is set to introduce a work passbook and expand the work dashboard initiatives.
Law and Works Minister Prithiviraj Harichandan announced these plans during a press conference on Saturday.
The work passbook will publicly declare the estimated cost, current progress, and other details of specific projects, enabling citizens to access updated information on the department’s website without visiting administrative offices. This initiative aims to ensure greater transparency and accountability in project management.
The work dashboard, on the other hand, will compile data from all Public Work Department (PWD) projects and make it accessible to concerned authorities. It will provide detailed insights, including project status, costs, and progress levels, allowing real-time monitoring by the Chief Minister, departmental ministers, and officials.
“The twin initiatives are expected to ensure transparency, timely completion, and quality assurance in public works. Initially, this system will be implemented in the PWD and later expanded to other engineering departments,” said Harichandan.
The Odisha government’s efforts to enhance transparency in governance are expected to bring significant improvements to project management and execution, benefiting citizens and ensuring accountability in public works.
