All the ULBs including Municipal Corporations of the state will be connected to the Odisha State Workflow Automation System (OSWAS).
The State Housing and Urban Development Department has informed all the municipalities of the state in this regard.
If OSWAS is implemented in all the municipalities, administrative work will run smoothly. For this, the Odisha Computer Application Center (OCAC) has been requested. In this, each municipality has been asked to provide desktops, laptops, scanners and LAN for using OSWAS. The desktop computer should have at least Windows-10 software, antivirus and LAN system that should be connected to OSWAS.
The TCS team and the PMU of OSWAS have been asked to maintain coordination with the data management staff in each municipality. Along with this, they have been asked to submit proposals for funds for expanded bandwidth. All the civic bodies have been asked to assist the OSWAS and TCS teams so that this scheme can be implemented by 1st April 2025. The civic bodies have been instructed to develop the network infrastructure with their funds and expand OSWAS.
It is noteworthy that while government work has been started through OSWAS in the state secretariat and departmental headquarters, it is now being extended to the field offices. While files are transferred online from one table to another through OSWAS, no more documents will be required for this.
As per the provisions in it, there is a specific time limit for all officers and employees to give their comments or suggestions on the OSWAS file. If any officer delays the work, the file will be gradually advanced and the higher officer will be informed about this. Therefore, if OSWAS is implemented, not only will time and resources be saved, but government work can also be expedited.
