The Government of Odisha will organize 58 Farm Mechanization Melas across the state between November 2025 and January 2026, aimed at connecting farmers with manufacturers, dealers, and financial institutions.

The initiative includes:

  • 4 Regional Melas in Sonepur, Mayurbhanj, Gajapati, and Nabarangpur
  • 26 District-level Melas
  • 28 Sub-divisional Melas

Speaking at the Farm Machinery Manufacturers Meet, Principal Secretary Dr. Arabinda Kumar Padhee emphasized the state’s commitment to transforming farming practices through mechanization. Odisha’s farm power availability has reached 2.61 kW/ha in 2024–25, with a roadmap to achieve 3.50 kW/ha by 2036 and 4.50 kW/ha by 2047.

For the current fiscal year, the government has allocated ₹540 crore in subsidies, targeting ₹1,200 crore worth of farm machinery distribution. Subsidy rates include:

  • 40% for general category farmers
  • 50% for SC/ST, women, small and marginal farmers
  • 75% for women SHGs
  • 90% for FRA patta holders

To streamline access and eliminate delays, Odisha has launched several digital initiatives:

  • Online applications via Go Sugam
  • Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) of subsidies
  • e-RUPI vouchers up to Rs 50,000
  • SUIC codes for traceability of implements

Director Agriculture Shri Shubham Saxena urged manufacturers to actively participate, maintain adequate stock for on-the-spot supply, and pass on GST reductions to farmers. Chief Engineer Shri Bishnuprasad Mishra and other senior officials were present at the meet.

Odisha’s mechanization drive is part of its broader vision to make farming profitable, efficient, and attractive for future generations.
