The 57th Senior National Kho Kho Championship is set to be held from March 31 to April 5 at the District Sports Complex in Puri, adding another milestone to the sport’s growing prominence in India.
Organized under the aegis of the Kho Kho Federation of India (KKFI), the championship promises thrilling competition, bringing together some of the country’s finest players.
This year’s edition will witness participation from 74 teams, including squads from 30 states and prominent institutional teams such as the Airport Authority, Railways, BSF, Maharashtra Police, and CISF.
KKFI President Sudhanshu Mittal highlighted the federation’s goal of promoting Kho Kho on the international stage. “Our vision extends beyond national boundaries. We aim to transform Kho Kho into a global sport. The Puri championship reflects our continued efforts to modernize the game and showcase its fast-paced excitement,” he said.
Odisha has been playing an active role in nurturing Kho Kho talent. A dedicated Kho Kho Academy and High-Performance Center have been functional in Puri for the last ten months, offering specialized training to budding players. Additionally, a proposal to construct a dedicated Kho Kho stadium at Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar is currently awaiting final approval, further solidifying the state’s commitment to the sport.
