The Higher Education Department has announced an advanced schedule for undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) admissions across Odisha, with the new academic session set to commence from the second week of July 2026.

The revised academic calendar is aimed at streamlining admissions, minimizing delays, and ensuring students experience a smooth transition into higher education institutions across the state.

Early Conduct of Common PG Entrance Test (CPET)

As part of the updated schedule, the Common PG Entrance Test (CPET) will also be conducted earlier than in previous years. Aligning the entrance examination timeline with the broader academic framework is expected to enhance efficiency in the admission process for universities and colleges statewide.

Officials stated that synchronizing entrance tests and admission procedures will reduce uncertainty and help students plan their academic pathways more effectively.

Strict Adherence to Examination Timeline

The Higher Education Department has directed all universities and undergraduate colleges to strictly follow the revised academic calendar.

Institutions must complete all final semester undergraduate examinations by April 30, 2026, without exception. Authorities emphasized that any delay could disrupt the admission cycle and postpone the commencement of the new session.

This directive underscores the government’s commitment to maintaining academic discipline and institutional accountability.

Results to Be Declared Within One Month

To further streamline the process, universities have been instructed to declare examination results within one month of completing exams.

Timely result publication will enable students to apply for postgraduate programmes, central universities, and other higher education institutions without procedural setbacks. The move is designed to promote equal opportunities for learners pursuing higher studies both within and outside Odisha.

Focus on Student-Centric Academic Reform

The revised schedule reflects a student-focused approach aimed at reducing academic uncertainty and aligning Odisha’s higher education calendar with national standards.

By ensuring timely examinations, faster result declaration, and early admissions, the state government seeks to improve institutional efficiency while supporting students in achieving their educational goals.
