Odisha is preparing to auction 22 new mining blocks in the coming days, a move hailed as a potential game-changer for the state’s economy.
Steel and Mines Minister Bibhuti Bhusan Jena shared the update, stating that the auction process has reached its final stage of preparation.
The minister highlighted that while eight mines were successfully auctioned last year, the current push involves 22 more blocks that have been fully processed and are ready for bidding. “Once auctioned, these mines will substantially contribute to Odisha’s revenue stream, bolster the industrial sector, and drive job creation across multiple domains,” he said.
Jena also criticised the previous government for unnecessarily delaying mine auctions, impacting development opportunities for the state.
With the mineral-rich regions of Odisha poised for activity, stakeholders are hopeful that the auction will unlock fresh investments and infrastructure development, aligning with broader economic goals.
