Three prime accused in the Odisha Police Sub-Inspector (SI) recruitment scam will appear before the Special CBI Court today.
The accused are alleged mastermind Shankar Prusty, Silicon Tech Lab promoter Suresh Nayak, and close associate Sagar Goud. Their four-day CBI remand, which began on December 19, ends today. Investigators may seek an extension or judicial custody.
The CBI has interrogated the trio for hours. Officials focused on the syndicate’s operations, financial trails, and interstate links. Sources said face-to-face questioning between Prusty and Nayak revealed details about roles, candidate outreach, and exam logistics misuse.
Investigators are questioning Goud for his role in exam centre coordination. He is linked to the “Digha module” in West Bengal. Meanwhile, the CBI arrested Amit Bharti in a parallel breakthrough. He will be produced in court separately. Officials believe the racket spread across Bihar, West Bengal, and Andhra Pradesh. Candidates allegedly paid up to Rs 25 lakh for leaked papers.
The scam surfaced in September 2025. The Odisha Police Recruitment Board (OPRB) cancelled the Combined Police Service Examination-2024, scheduled for October 5-6, to fill 933 posts. A tip-off led to buses carrying 114 aspirants being intercepted. Investigators exposed a paper leak operation subcontracted through Panchsoft Technologies and Silicon Tech Lab.
Since November 2025, the CBI has arrested more than a dozen people. The list includes middlemen, a police constable, and exam centre officials. Recent actions include questioning an SP-rank OPRB officer over tender irregularities and summoning three board members. Thousands of genuine aspirants await justice. Today’s court hearing may provide clarity on the probe’s next steps.
