In a shocking incident in Jirum Sahi, Hatigoda village, under Thakurmunda police station in Mayurbhanj, Odisha, a man allegedly attempted to rape a minor girl and later attacked her father with an arrow after his crime was thwarted.
The incident, which unfolded on May 26, 2025, has left the community in distress and the accused on the run.
On Monday evening around 5:00 PM, Radhashyam Bandia, a resident of Hunduluka Sahi, allegedly tried to sexually assault his minor relative in Jirum Sahi. The girl’s mother intervened, confronting Radhashyam with physical force and informing her husband, Bishra Badra, about the incident. Enraged by the confrontation, Radhashyam returned at approximately 7:30 PM and shot an arrow at Bishra while he stood near his home. The arrow struck Bishra’s arm, lodging in his flesh.
Despite the injury, Bishra remained at home overnight and sought medical attention the next day at Thakurmunda Community Health Centre, where doctors successfully removed the arrow and provided treatment. The incident has sparked outrage in the village, with locals demanding swift justice.
Following a formal complaint, Thakurmunda police registered a case (No. 50/2025) under sections 137(1), 332(c), 75/76, 118(1), and 109 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). IIC Sabitri Dalei is leading the investigation, but accused Radhashyam remains absconding, prompting a manhunt to apprehend him.
