Odisha Sees Rise in Night Temperatures as Cold Wave Weakens Under Western Disturbances

Residents across Odisha are experiencing gradual relief from the winter chill as night temperatures begin to rise in several parts of the state. The increase in minimum temperatures has reduced the intensity of the cold wave conditions that prevailed earlier this season.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the change in weather patterns is being driven by active western disturbances affecting the region. These systems are bringing moisture-laden winds, leading to a noticeable rise in night temperatures and a softening of harsh winter conditions.

Weather officials have forecast that minimum temperatures may fluctuate by 2 to 4 degrees Celsius over the next four days. As a result, cold wave conditions are expected to weaken further across most districts of Odisha.

Despite the improvement in temperatures, foggy conditions are likely to persist, particularly during early morning and late night hours. The IMD has predicted light to moderate fog in districts including Cuttack, Khordha, Puri, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, and Kalahandi over the next two days.

Residents, commuters, and travelers are advised to remain cautious due to reduced visibility caused by fog, especially on highways and rural roads.

Overall, while Odisha continues to experience winter weather, the gradual rise in night temperatures signals a temporary easing of cold conditions under the influence of western disturbances.
