In a significant push towards enhancing educational infrastructure in the state, the Odisha Higher Education Department has sanctioned Rs 1.73 crore for the development of 11 colleges and one university under the ‘Ama Gourav Ama College’ scheme.
This initiative is set to modernise facilities and create better learning environments for thousands of students across Odisha.
The funding allocation targets key institutions, including Ravenshaw University, Agalpur Panchayat Samiti (Degree) College, Bijepur (Degree) College, Salepur (Autonomous) College, Biren Mitra Memorial Women’s (Degree) College, Panchayat Degree College in Kalla, Hindol (Degree) College, Mahima Degree College, Belaguntha Science Degree College, Naktideul Degree College, Government Autonomous College in Phulbani, and Jasoda Bishnu College. These establishments, spread across various districts, will utilise the funds for a range of infrastructure and academic upgrades.
According to department officials, the sanctioned amount will support projects such as strengthening library resources, constructing state-of-the-art laboratories, developing sports and academic complexes, installing Wi-Fi connectivity, and setting up CCTV surveillance systems. These improvements aim to address long-standing gaps in rural and semi-urban educational setups, ensuring that students have access to modern amenities that foster holistic development.
The ‘Ama Gourav Ama College’ scheme, a flagship program of the Odisha government, emphasises pride in local institutions by investing in their growth.
