On September 17, 2025, Odisha marked Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 75th birthday with an unprecedented environmental milestone, planting a record-breaking 1,49,11,339 trees across the state.

Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi had envisioned planting 75 lakh trees as a tribute to the Prime Minister, but the people of Odisha exceeded expectations, nearly doubling the target by 5 PM. This massive plantation drive, conducted at 71,924 locations, showcased the state’s enthusiasm and commitment to environmental conservation.

The initiative, which began at sunrise and continued until sunset, saw the 75-lakh target achieved by 1:33 PM, reflecting the overwhelming participation of Odisha’s residents.

The Chief Minister expressed heartfelt gratitude to the people, stating that their love for PM Modi and dedication to the cause left him deeply moved. He also commended the Forest, Environment, and Climate Change Department, along with other involved departments, for the program’s success.

The plantation drive not only honoured PM Modi but also reinforced Odisha’s commitment to a greener future, aligning with national environmental goals.
