Odisha’s Minister for Works, Law and Excise, Prithviraj Harichandan, chaired a review meeting in Bhubaneswar on March 6, 2026, to discuss pricing and quality of construction materials.
The session emphasised the importance of completing the price determination process quickly to ensure transparency and efficiency in infrastructure projects.
The meeting highlighted how quality materials enhance durability in construction. Officials discussed pricing methods adopted by the central government and other states, aiming to establish fair and accurate rates for Odisha. Participants reviewed costs of sand, stone, bricks, indoor and outdoor materials, electrical supplies, prefabricated components, and building essentials, factoring in transportation expenses.
Minister Harichandan stressed that the timely completion of the pricing process is critical for accelerating project execution. He underlined the need for strict quality standards to maintain sustainability in infrastructure development.
Senior officials attended the meeting, including EIC-cum-Principal Secretary Lakshmikant Padhi, EIC (Design) Sameer Hota, EIC (Civil) Satyabrata Behera, EIC (Roads) Dhyan Chand Nayak, Chief Engineer Priyabrata Samantaray, Engineer Shivabrata Taria, and Financial Advisor Ratikant Mohapatra.
