In a move to strengthen the women’s wing of the Congress party in Odisha, All India Mahila Congress Committee President Alka Lamba has approved and announced the newly constituted Odisha State Mahila Congress Committee.

The committee, proposed by State Mahila Congress President Minakshi Bahinipati, aims to enhance grassroots mobilisation and empower women leaders across the state.

In a press release, State Mahila Congress President Minakshi Bahinipati extended her congratulations and best wishes to the new appointees. She urged them to “firmly grasp the hand of Congress leader and Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi” and collaborate sincerely with Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) President Bhakta Charan Das to drive the party’s agenda forward.

Bahinipati emphasised the committee’s role in amplifying women’s voices in Odisha’s political landscape. It focuses on issues like gender equality, empowerment, and social justice. She also highlighted the commitment to inclusive leadership that bridges urban and rural divides.

Echoing the sentiment, AICC Mahila Congress In-Charge Tulika Karma congratulated the new office-bearers. She called the formation a “milestone in women’s political empowerment in Odisha.”

This restructuring comes at a pivotal time for the Congress party in the state, ahead of upcoming electoral strategies. Party insiders view it as a strategic infusion of fresh energy into the Mahila Congress. It is poised to rally women voters and activists.
