The Odisha government has launched a stringent crackdown on fertiliser black marketing and illegal sales, Deputy Chief Minister K.V. Singh Deo informed the Assembly in response to a question raised by MLA Aravind Mohapatra.
According to Singh Deo, enforcement squads raided 7,001 fertiliser outlets across the state. As a result, 2,011 dealers who violated rules have been served show-cause notices.
The raids led to the closure of 35 shops and the seizure of 12 consignments of fertiliser. In addition, criminal cases were registered against five dealers, while 77 dealers had their licenses cancelled for repeated violations.
The Deputy Chief Minister emphasised that the government is committed to curbing malpractice in fertiliser distribution. He said strict monitoring and enforcement will continue to ensure farmers receive fertilisers at fair prices and in a timely manner.
